Esper Ocasion Fernando holds a dual executive role as Chief Risk Officer at BDO in Indonesia and Head of Learning & Development for Audit & Assurance. She brings over 21 years of experience across external audit, quality, and risk governance, including prior experience at Big 4 accounting firms.
Her 12-year journey at BDO in Indonesia has come full circle. Having started with the Firm in 2014 within Risk Management and Quality Assurance, she progressed through quality assurance and training leadership into her current executive role. Working hand in hand with the Board and Senior leadership, she drives strategic risk management, ethics, and independence governance across the firm, while overseeing quality assurance for non-assurance service lines.
In her L&D role, she directs technical and professional development for the Audit & Assurance practice to ensure the effective application of firm methodology and tools. Throughout her tenure, she has also served as a technical consultant and engagement lead for cross-border capital market transactions.
Her extensive leadership and advisory background is underpinned by a Bachelor of Science in Accountancy, a CPA designation earned in May 2005, and having earned the Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) certification from The Institute of Internal Auditors in January 2008.
