BDO in Indonesia Celebrates Independence Day with "Eco Nusantara" Fashion Show
Reaffirming Commitment to a Sustainable Future
In celebration of Indonesia's 81st Independence Day, BDO in Indonesia brought the spirit of national pride and sustainability to life through a vibrant internal event. The highlight of the celebration was the "Eco Nusantara" Fashion Show, a creative challenge that invited our employees to showcase the rich diversity of Indonesian ethnic attire—with an eco-friendly twist. The fashion show was more than just a display of cultural heritage; it was a powerful reflection of our firm's core values. Participants innovatively incorporated sustainable materials, upcycled elements, and eco-conscious design choices into traditional garments, proving that honouring our history can go hand-in-hand with protecting our future.
Bridging Culture and Climate Action
The "Eco Nusantara" theme perfectly aligns with BDO in Indonesia’s broader strategic vision for decarbonisation and environmental stewardship. While our team was creatively championing sustainability on the runway, our firm continues to take measurable, science-based actions on a corporate level.
This past June, we announced a major milestone in our sustainability journey: BDO in Indonesia’s near-term and long-term greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions reduction targets were officially validated and approved by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi).
Our commitments include:
- A Near-Term Target to reduce absolute Scope 1 and Scope 2 GHG emissions by 42% by 2030 (from a 2025 base year).
- A Long-Term Net-Zero Target to reduce Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions by 90% and achieve full net-zero status across the organisation by 2050.
Leading by Example, Inside and Out
As an organisation that advises enterprises on their transition to sustainable operations, we believe in leading by example. Securing SBTi validation ensures our decarbonisation steps are grounded in credible, rigorous standards. The enthusiasm shown by our team during the "Eco Nusantara" event demonstrates that this commitment to sustainability is shared at every level of our firm.
Decarbonisation stands as a core pillar of our strategy. Just as our employees creatively reimagined traditional attire for a low-carbon world, BDO in Indonesia is dedicated to continuously identifying and executing emission reduction opportunities across our operations.
We are proud to celebrate Indonesia’s independence by honouring the nation's vibrant culture and committing to the long-term health of its environment. Ultimately, the message of our "Eco Nusantara" event is simple but profound: loving Indonesia is not just about preserving its culture, but also protecting the earth we stand on.
