National Social and Healthcare Security for the Workforce (BPJS Ketenagakerjaan) Letter Number B/35672/122018 regarding the the Enactment of Retirement Age of 57 Years Old for Pension Security

On Thursday, December 27, 2018, National Social and Healthcare Security for the Workforce (BPJS Ketenagakerjaan)  has issued a letter of announcement regarding the Enactment of Retirement Age of 57 Years Old for Pension Security.

Based on Article 15 of Government Regulation Number 45 of 2015 concerning the Implementation of the Pension Security, it is stated that:

  • The retirement age is 56 years old, and start from January 1, 2019, the retirement age changes to 57 years old.
  • The retirement age will increase by 1 (one) year for every 3 (three) years until the retirement age reaches the age of 65 years old.
  • If the pension security participant has reached the retirement age but the participant is still employed, the participant may choose to receive the pension benefit when they reach their retirement age or when they retire, with the provision of no later than 3 (three) years after the retirement age.
